The Amazons, long at war with Alexander the Great, have a yearly truce; a ceasefire is called, and the breeding season begins. Their fearless leader, Hippolyta, encourages them to breed more women. Antiope, the virgin, is joining her sisters for the first time, Penth has lost her daughter, and Thalestris, is going to meet her secret lover. In the modern day, a trainer prepares her prize mare for breeding whilst navigating her declining health.

Set between the ancient world of the Amazonian warrior women and a contemporary horse stable, the play follows five women as they navigate patriarchy, fertility, sex, duty, and love.
